Laos Escorted Group Tours

Laos is a captivating country in the heart of Southeast Asia. Its Mekong River islands, temples, forests and waterfalls make this a beautiful destination for an unforgettable tour.

Why choose an escorted tour to Laos?

On a Laos tour, you can step off the treadmill of everyday life and enjoy a serene journey through this restful, culturally diverse destination. Landlocked between Vietnam and Cambodia, its bustling Indochina neighbours, the country offers a more laidback experience.

Visit the capital Vientiane and see the striking gold Pha That Luang temple, the most important Buddhist monument in Laos. Head to Luang Prabang, the old royal capital that's a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Nearby, take in the majestic three-tiered Kuang Si Waterfall, which is a must-see during a tour of Laos.
Laos features in several of our guided group tours through Indochina. You can also journey through Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand.

What can you expect during our escorted tours to Laos?

Our escorted tour packages to Laos last between 13 and 21 nights, giving you plenty of time to explore Laos and its neighbouring countries.

For our group tours to Laos, you'll travel with around 10 people. This is to ensure our local experts can focus on you and your requirements, creating an intimate experience. This also gives you the chance to get to know your guides, who will share their local knowledge and show you hidden gems.

What destinations can you visit on our Laos tours?

Guided tours of Laos take you to iconic landmarks and lesser-known sites. Experience a river crossing to a traditional village, swim in the turquoise waters of a spectacular waterfall, and see Buddha statues in the Pak Ou caves.

Vientane

On the Laos Mekong Explorer tour, you'll visit the capital and largest city Vientiane. Here, you can wander its modern shopping outlets, broad Parisian-style boulevards and colonial buildings in between viewing up close the majestic shrine of Pha That Luang temple. There are breathtaking city views from Patuxai, also known as the Victory Monument and similar in style to Paris' Arc De Triomphe.

Luang Prabang

Surrounded by mountains and waterfalls, Luang Prabang is a pretty town steeped in history and tradition. The morning Tagbat ceremony of 2,000 Buddhist monks is a fascinating daily ritual that typically begins at 5.30am. There's also the Royal Palace Museum, the final palace of Laos royalty and home to the country’s most sacred Buddha image. You can also climb Phousi Hill for fabulous panoramic views and visit Wat Xieng Thong, a Buddhist temple where Lao kings were crowned, and Wat Visoun, the area’s oldest temple which has stood on this site in various forms since the 16th century.

Ban Chan and Ban Na San

Some of our Laos tours allow you to experience authentic village life. At Ban Chan Pottery Village, you can observe the centuries-old method of making clay pots. Take a morning stroll through the Hmong resettlement village of Ban Na San which is close to Xayaburi Hydroelectric Dam on the Thai border. This impressive, if controversial, hydropower project is claimed to have adversely affected the local ecosystem and agricultural practices.

When to go on a guided tour of Laos

Generally, travellers visit Laos between late October and April to make the most of the temperate dry season and enjoy comfortable travelling conditions. We run many of our tours through Laos in February and November to ensure we avoid the heat and humidity of the monsoon months and to showcase the country at its best.

Who are Laos tours suited to?

A Laos guided tour provides a moment of calm, where you can soak up the atmosphere and get lost in a world away from global commercialisation. Here, you can enjoy a peaceful interlude as you follow the unhurried, immersive pace, making it the perfect destination for those who love to explore spiritual sites and indulge in nature.

Whether you're travelling as a couple or with a group of friends, you can explore each location in full before moving on to the next discovery. When you choose a Jules Verne tour, you will always be travelling in a small group of like-minded people.
