View All Dates & Book

A wonderfully relaxing week, on and around Lake Garda, this beautiful ‘breather’ is a well-balanced blend of unhurried touring and time at leisure. Tranquillity reigns around the lake, and charming towns add culture and character

Overview

A week on Lake Garda is an unashamedly leisurely break, in a splendidly scenic setting. Linking three provinces, with borders in Lombardy, Veneto, and Trentino, Italy’s largest lake enjoys a surprisingly mild climate, allowing Mediterranean flora to flourish on its surrounds. With towering mountains hemming its long and narrow northern stretch, and low hills to the bulbous south, the lake has a sprinkling of small islands rising from the water, and intriguing towns dotted along the shoreline. Your base for the seven-night stay is Salò, the largest town on the western shore, set at the point where the lake broadens out. With its architecture telling the tale of its past, an Old Town labyrinth of little alleys leading to lovely squares, the lake’s longest promenade for strolls by the water, and paths through the pinewoods on San Bartolomeo hill, the city is the star of Lombardy’s Brescia province. From here, excursions by road or by boat take you to the blissful islet of Isola del Garda; Limone’s ‘lemon garden’, the pebbled lanes of Malcesine, and busy town of Bardolino; to vibrant Verona and the vineyards of Valpolicella; and to the historic cultural hub of Mantua.

Highlights

  • Stay direct by the lake
  • Visit Isola del Garda
  • Drive around Lake Garda
  • Discover Verona
